Dogan Bui, who is of Vietnamese descent, was born in Le Mans, France, in 1976 and works as a writer and journalist. She writes reportages as chief reporter of the magazine Le Nouvel Observateur which attracted a lot of attention. One of these reportages about immigrants, was awarded with the prestigious Albert-Londres Award. Le Silence de mon pére is her first novel. In 2016 she received the littéraire de la porte dorée Award for her novel. Bui currently lives in Paris.
