Biography

The Kurdish-Syrian writer Widad Nabi was born in Kobani/Syria in 1985 and graduated the bachelor's degree in economicsat the University of Aleppo. shehas for numerous Arabic magazinesand wrote newspapers. some of theirsTexts were also published in English andFrench. Her book Zeit was published in 2013for love, time for war in Aleppo. 2016followed in Syria and the futility of deathBeirut (both in Arabic).In 2015 she managed to flee to Berlin, where she still lives todaylives. Here she quickly got in touch with the local literary scene. For numerousMagazines and newspapers for Spiegel Online and Die ZEIT, among othersand the Frankfurter Rundschau she wrote articles. Literature and language as a means of crossing borders is one of the core characteristics of her work.

Widad Nabi's poems are about unfathomable love, looking back on the past, searching for home.
Openly feminist, the poet gives an insight into her identity as a woman and mother. In her poems, she also processes her experiences with illness and suffering in a personal and approachable way.
