Biography
dr phil Claudia Ott is a translator, Arabicist and musician. She studied oriental studies in Jerusalem and Tübingen and did her doctorate at the FU Berlin with a thesis on Arabic epic. She has been teaching at the University of Göttingen on a voluntary basis since 2013. In addition to various artist grants, Claudia Ott has been awarded the Johann Friedrich von Cotta Prize of the City of Stuttgart and the Literature Prize of the Erlangen Cultural Foundation, as well as being nominated for the Leipzig Book Prize in the “Translation” category. She is internationally known as the leading authority on the world of the Arabian Nights. With their new translation, the oldest Arabic manuscripts of the Arabian Nights were made accessible in German for the first time.

The anthology Refugee café is a collection of wondrous everyday stories from different people. The book focuses on life as a migrant with all its pain, joy and passion. The stories by Nahid Keshavarz let the reader slip into the everyday life and the thoughts of a wide variety of characters. The stories are about married couples who struggle with communication problems, breaking social conventions, dealing with the social medium "Facebook" and cultural misunderstandings. Without using heavy language to overwhelm, the author uses her various characters to show numerous facets of people who can no longer live in their home country. Last but not least, she manages to convey the stories so realistically that you can find yourself reading in a chatty café.
