Witha Winter by Gregory

Biography

Witha Winter von Gregory studied sociology, politics and French literature in Munich, Paris and Konstanz. She spent a year as a DAAD scholarship holder at Yale University in the USA and has lived and worked in Bremen since 1974. From 1979-1994 she taught and researched at the University of Bremen. After working for a year on a development project in Rwanda and a solar oven construction project lasting several weeks in Namibia, she accepted the offer to design and implement educational programs for adults at the Evangelisches Bildungswerk Bremen. Since 2000, she has been the sponsor of the Bildungswerk and since 2006 also with the Bremen Information Center for Human Rights and Development, the culture hands-on markets im Garden of Human Rights in the Bremen Rhododendron Park. The three generations of their family supported them in all phases of their professional commitments.

Human Rights. Universal and On Site

This book deals, in the form of essays, with nine articles from the Universal Declaration of Human Rights as adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 1948. Authors from science and practice examine one of the articles in nine chapters. In this way, they deal with the history and topicality of the human rights that have been dealt with in public. The publication is based on the lecture series “Bremen – City of Human Rights. 70 years of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights”, which took place in 2018 in the House of Science in Bremen.
