About the author:

Maria Dadouch, Born in Damascus, Syria in 1970, is an award -winning writer and screenwriter.

It has written numerous novels for adults and children's books, some of which have been translated. Dadouch studied creative writing to the UCLA and was instrumental in the foundation of the youth magazine "Fulla" and worked as a screenwriter for the TV series "Maraya".

 

Since moving to the USA in 2011, she has continued her successful work. Her works were honored with important awards such as the Sheikh Zayed Book Award for children's literature ("The Mystery of the Glass Ball") as well as the Qatara Prize and the Shoman Prize.

Maria Dadouch also shares her knowledge in courses for creative writing and has significantly participated in the development of educational programs for children's literature in the Arab world.

The riddle of the glass ball

This award -winning children's book tells the story of Ghassan Al Ghurairi, who accompanies his grandfather to the museum in the middle of the desert, where his grandfather is honored for his lifelong commitment to the desert. On the train journey there, Ghassan discovered a conspiracy: the criminal Aqrabawi and his friend, disguised as older women, plan to poison the water supply of the oasis.
