Europe 1992. They meet in Villeneuve-le-Roi near Paris: Virgil, who fled Moldova in the underbody of a truck, Chanchal from Bangladesh and the Somali Assan, who is trying to save his daughter Iman from civil war and oppression. They come as the vanguard of the many who will cross Europe's borders in the years to come.
