Jutta Himmelreich, who works as a freelance translator, interpreter and lecturer in German, English, French, Spanish and Persian, sees herself as a diplomat in the service of world literature and focuses her work on the promotion and dissemination of literature from the Global South. Her literary translations have received several awards. In 2020, together with five colleagues, she received the International Literature Prize awarded by the Berlin House of World Cultures and the Elementary Particles Foundation.
As in her novels, the central themes of the collection of short stories are In the rain by the LiBeraturpreiswinner Faribā Vafī the intimate everyday experiences of women who try to go their own way independent of social restrictions.
