Volume 2 of our Persian poetry anthology is here!

Good news!

We've waited a long time, but it's finally here: the second volume of the Persian poetry anthology "A thief in the dark stares at a painting". It can be seen as the follow-up volume to the volume of poetry "Halt aus in der Nacht bis zum Wein", which was published in 2019 and has now been published in a second edition.

While the editor Kurt Scharf devoted his attention to the Persian-speaking poets of the 20th century in Volume 1, in Volume 2 he now turns to the new generation of Persian-speaking poets of the 21st century together with Ali Abdollahi. The anthology contains not only the poems of Iranian poets, but also the poems of Tajik and Afghan poets, as well as those of aerial root writers who write in Persian. Such an extensive anthology, with over 80 different contemporary Persian-speaking authors, is unique in Germany.

The covers were designed by the artist Sarvenaz Soltani based on old photos with oil paint. In both works she represents the themes of the past and time.

In an interview with UnterEins, Gerrit Wustmann talks about why "world literature" often only means "Western literature", who is to blame and what can be done about it.
