25th anniversary of the Vechta Aphasia Center and book review "Eulen-Hannes"
01.30.2020 a 9:30 - 13:30
In December, the book “Eulen-Hannes” was published by Sujet Verlag, which contains texts in simple German, drawings and tasks to make reading easier for aphasic sufferers and German learners. It is a project by Friederike Schmidt-Landwehr. The qualified mineralogist was born in Augsburg in 1958. In 2000, she suffered a brainstem hemorrhage as a result of an accident while pregnant with her third son. After a long REHA, she was able to return home, but since then she has been visiting the aphasia center in Vechta almost every day because she has suffered impairments.
For 25 years, people from all over Germany and beyond the borders of Germany have been coming to the Vechta Aphasia Center to regain their speech, their thinking, their movement and independence after a stroke or traumatic brain injury. What the guests of the center have in common is that they are looking for a way to communicate, a chance to share their innermost being with others. A basic need of every human being. On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of this institution, an information event and book presentation will take place.
