Reading and concert

Am 01. August 2021 find in St. Matthew in Altena a 17:00 o'clock a reading with Amir Shaheen from his book I'm not a foreigner, that's just my name and a concert will take place at which works by Stravinski, Bach, Piazolla, Dagsvik and others will be played.
Bernd Bolsinger plays clarinet and saxophone, Frank Düppenbecker the trumpet and Ansgar Wallenhorst the church organ.

Complementary to the readings from the book “I'm not a foreigner, that's just my name” by Amir Shaheen, the wealth that accrues to the music world through international compositions is presented musically.
Examples from klezmer, gospel, modern classical music to Gershwin underline the book's message that the term "foreign" first describes a geographical fact without judgment and also includes the diversity of cultures and lifestyles. This reduces a racist, xenophobic interpretation of the term by national right-wing political movements to absurdity.”
