Hartmut Fähndrich - translator in portrait

20CHFOn May 31 at 1 p.m. Hartmut Fähndrich will appear as part of the Solothurn Literary Days. In the little hall of the Solothurn youth hostel, there will be a more detailed insight into him, his work and his life. The event is moderated by Christina Caprez.
From 1978 to 2014 the Fähndrich born in Tübingen taught Arabic language and cultural history at ETH Zurich, until 2010 he was editor of the series “Arabic Literature” (Lenos Verlag). His translations from Arabic were awarded multiple awards, around 2016 with the Swiss Special Prize Translation. With “Life in the Schleb” by the Palestinian author Atef Abu Saif (2014), Fähndrich makes an urgent novel that illuminates the dimensions of life in the Gaza Strip for the first time in German.
