Suleman Taufiq, In Damascus Geborener
Writer, publicist, translator and editor of Arabic literature, came to Aachen to study philosophy and comparative. In 1978 he published his first volume of poems in German, which was followed by numerous publications. He also became known as an author for broadcasters such as the WDR and the Neue Zürcher Zeitung.
For the VHS Aachen, he invites poetry to readings and discussions about their literature. These events are free of charge.
The Kurdish-Syrian poet Widad Nabi, born in Kobane, lives in Berlin. Her works have appeared numerous magazines, including in English and French translations. In 2013 her book "Zeit for Love, Time for War" was published, 2016 "Syria and the senselessness of death". In October 2016, her first text appeared in German in the anthology "Be gone - be here", in 2017 a selection of her poems appeared in the anthology "The wings of my heavy heart".
In Arabic and German, she reads from the books "invisible breaks and shortly before thirty ... kiss me".
