Symphony of the Dead by Abbas Maroufi
02.24.2021 a 19:00
While Aidin reacts to his father's strictness with rebellion, his brother Urhan is compliant. Although the two fundamentally different sons soon go their separate ways, the family bond brings them back together again under dramatic circumstances. As soon as they both live back in their parents' house, tensions rise between Aidin and Urhan. Tradition and progress as well as a tender love story are the central themes of Abbas Maroufi's family drama, which has parallels to Cain and Abel. This year, the Symphony of the Dead, first published in 1989, was republished by Sujet Verlag.
Abbas Maroufi (born 1957) studied dramatic literature in Tehran. In 1990 he founded the literary magazine Gardun in Tehran. He has lived in Germany since 1996 and runs the Hedayat bookstore and publishing house in Berlin. His works have been translated into many languages.
