The two Syrian authors Ramy Al-Asheq (memory dogs) and Widad Nabi (shortly before thirty, ...kiss me) read for us from their works last Thursday as part of the Funun Festival. The evening was moderated by Jasmina Heritani, with Aladdin Haddad providing the musical accompaniment. The poems were recited in two languages, Arabic and German. Afterwards there was an exciting conversation with the audience about the personal experiences of the two poets with their old and new homeland, as well as about bilingualism, poetry and their important role in exile.
We would like to thank Ramy Al-Asheq and Widad Nabi for coming and the Syrian Exile Cultural Association for the good cooperation and support in organizing the event!
