In Kooperation des Kunstfestes Weimar und des Goethe-Instituts findet ein Kulturprogramm rund um die Verleihung der Goethe-Medaille 2019 statt. Am Abend vor der diesjährigen Vergabe der Goethe-Medaille wird Doğan Akhanlı aus seinem Roman "Madonnas letzter Traum" lesen. Weiterhin wird ein Gespräch mit dem Chefdramaturgen der UFA, Thomas Laue, stattfinden. Im Anschluss an die Lesung werden die beiden gemeinsam über Doğan Akhanlıs bisherigen Lebensweg sowie sein besonderes kulturelles und politisches Engagement sprechen, welches sich besonders in seinen Werken widerspiegelt.

Das Literaturfest "Textland - Made in Germany 2019" widmet sich den Wandlungsprozessen in der hiesigen Gegenwartsliteratur. Die Veranstaltung läuft unter dem Motto Erinnern | Erzählen | Identität. Unter dem Titel "Das Unsagbare schreiben – transnationaler Erinnerungsraum" wird Doğan Akhanlı erst in Form einer Shortcut Lesung aus seinem Roman "Madonnas letzter Traum" lesen. Anschließend wird ein gemeinsames Gespräch mit Insa Wilke stattfinden.
