European Literature Festival Cologne Kalk with Suleman Taufiq

On Saturday, September 2nd, Suleman Taufiq will be at the European Literature Festival Cologne Kalk. A short film about the person Suleman Taufiq and his literature will be shown. Suleman Taufiq will also present his texts. Suleman reads in German and Arabic. Jonas Linnebank will moderate the event. Reading and speaking take place in Arabic and German. About the author Suleman Taufiq is a German-Syrian author and is known as a poet, storyteller, music critic, publicist, editor and translator of Arabic literature and lives in Aachen. Born in Beirut in 1953

2nd Cologne Literature Night - freedom and possibilities of writing

Events at 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. As part of the series of events at the 2nd Cologne Literature Night, Simone Scharbert and our authors Jabbar Abdullah and Suleman Taufiq will present their latest books. They deal with the question of freedom and the possibilities of writing. Immediately experienced (un-)freedom is the theme of Jabbar Abdullah. Traces to Syria - reading and discussion with Suleman Taufiq

The author Suleman Taufiq, who grew up in Damascus, is based on his novel “Café Dunya. A Day in Damascus” which is a tribute to his hometown and a journey through the memory of Syria. With a fine power of observation and a gentle sense of humour, he conjures up atmospheric images from a sinking, oriental world. The author also reads text excerpts from his new volume of poetry "I Tame Hope". Suleman Taufiq is known as a poet, storyteller, music critic and editor and translator of Arabic literature.
