Book premiere "Deadly Strangers" (Bremen)

As part of the Bremen book premieres, a series of events organized by the Bremer Literaturkontor and the Bremen city library, we cordially invite you to a reading with Mahmood Falaki, from his new novel Deadly Strangers will read. The evening will be moderated by Jens-Ulrich Davids.

Mahmood Falaki's new novel, the first he has ever written in German, tells the story of Nima, a 43-year-old teacher in Hamburg who, after decades, sets off for his former homeland, Iran, when he is affected by the chaos in has had enough of his life.
In addition to a decent cultural shock and a strange feeling of the stranger, he also awaits him there, also the confrontation with the arbitrariness of the authorities, oppression and corruption. In his novel, Falaki addresses the repressive side of an authoritarian-religious system, but at the same time deals with the numerous questions about identity and integration, which above all raised the so-called "refugee crisis" in 2015.
