"For me, Paris was the place where my mother tongue gradually burst, like an explosion, in slow motion.” Born in Shiraz (Iran) in 1967, Pedro Kadivar fled to France at the age of 16, changed his mother tongue and name, felt like he had graduated from high school and studied no longer strange enough in Paris, moves on to Berlin in 1996, after a formative encounter with Heiner Müller, where he does his doctorate on Marcel Proust, in which he discovers an affinity. Today, Pedro Kadivar lives and works as an author and director in Paris and Berlin and produces widely acclaimed plays.

In the Little Book of Migrations, he tells of the break with the language of the country that he wanted to forget because it was marked by so much violence, he reflects on home and being foreign, on the importance of migration for artistic creativity, and in doing so he repeatedly brings up other artists and writers come into play, in addition to Marcel Proust also Beckett, Dürer or the Iranian poet Sadeq Hedayat.
