Literature in der Nadelfabrik: Suleman Taufiq

We look forward to a reading with Suleman Taufiq from his new collection of short stories "Josef's birthday".

A short story collection that tells of the quirks and obstacles one encounters when, accustomed to the idiosyncrasies of the culture one grew up in, one suddenly finds oneself in an environment that fosters completely different ones. It's about always cheerful and sometimes funny anecdotes from the lives of people who have to find their way around in a foreign country. Many of these are based on minor and major everyday cultural misunderstandings. The comedy is gripping and at the same time it has a pinch of tragedy in store because these stories are still relevant and repeat themselves over and over again. In addition, these little stories give touching and personal insights into Taufiq's life and his relationship to the German language.
