Funun Festival Bremen with Widad Nabi

This year, the Syrian exile cultural association SEKu e.V. is once again organizing the traditional FUNUN Festival. The festival takes place from September 29th to October 8th. took place in Bremen at different event locations.

In the course of the festival Widad Nabi am 30. September Reading from her literary works at 7 p.m.

The Kurdish-Syrian writer Widad Nabi was born in Kobani, Syria, in 1985 and completed a bachelor's degree in economics at the University of Aleppo. She has written for numerous Arabic magazines and newspapers. Some of her texts were also published in English and French. Her book Time for Love, Time for War in Aleppo was published in 2013. Syria and the senselessness of death in Beirut followed in 2016 (both in Arabic). In 2015 she managed to escape to Berlin, where she still lives today. Here she quickly came into contact with the local literary scene. She wrote articles for numerous magazines and newspapers, including Spiegel Online, ZEIT and Frankfurter Rundschau. Literature and language as a means of crossing borders is one of the core features of her work.

She has so far published three works with Sujet Verlag: “Just before thirty,… kiss me” (2019), and “Invisible Brüche” once as a German translation and last year as a bilingual edition.
