Reading with Suleman Taufiq: I tame hope

Suleman Taufiq reads from his novel “Café Dunya”. A day in Damascus that is a tribute to his hometown and a journey through Syria's memory. In the novel, a young man's return to his hometown is linked to the story of a coffee house and its various visitors. With fine observation skills and quiet humor, Suleman Taufiq conjures up atmospheric images from a sinking oriental world.
The author also reads excerpts from his new book of poems “I tame hope”. In his new poems he takes his listeners into a wonderful foreign world, a world with all its transience, excess, changeability, imponderability, on a poetic journey between places, languages and times.
