Sujet Verlag invites you to a reading and discussion of the diary “Cold War, Hot Autumn” by the Tunisian author Najed Adouani. The work, from English by Christa Schuenke translated, combining autobiographical experiences with literary narrative forms.
The focus of the evening is the literary work that Najet Adouani began in her youth. In diary form, she describes her life in Berlin-Kreuzberg and paints an impressive picture of an urban district characterized by diversity, tensions, hopes and social challenges. The focus is primarily on the realities of life for refugees and people with a migration background. Personal experiences combine with political developments of global dimensions.
Andreas Rumler, who wrote the afterword, introduces the book and reports on its creation and the path to publication at Sujet Verlag.
Sabine Schiffner, author from Bremen, reads selected passages from the book.
The author Hit Adouani will be connected digitally and will take part in the conversation. As a PEN Germany scholarship holder, she now lives in Berlin.
Both Sabine Schiffner and Andreas Rumler are involved in the PEN Center Germany, especially for authors in exile.
The event takes place in cooperation between West-Östlicher Diwan e.V., PEN Germany and Sujet Verlag.
We look forward to your visit!
