Journeys into Literature – 1st evening in prose
16.09.2022 at 19:00
FreeThe first evening of prose presents the works of the two Iranian authors Fariba Vafi and Amir Hassan Cheheltan in the city library.
The award-winning Iranian bestselling author Fariba Vafi, who has been invited as a guest of the Heinrich Böll Foundation, is presenting her collection of short stories in Bremen for the first time "In the rain". Fariba Vafi plays a leading role in contemporary Iranian literature. She is a very attentive observer of different relationship issues in which women strive for independence and equality.
The award-winning author Amir Hassan Cheheltan presents his latest novel "A Love in Cairo" (C.H. Beck Verlag). In his books, the author addresses the political and historical history of Iran through his unique poetic and literary narratives. Like many of Cheheltan's other works, Eine Liebe in Kairo was published in German for the first time, although it is not allowed to be published in Iran because of its political content.
The first evening of prose offers two different perspectives on a country whose image is often misrepresented in the media. The texts, which were translated into German by Jutta Himmelreich, will be read in the original in Persian.
