Suleman Taufiq from Aachen is a German-Syrian author and is known as a poet, storyteller and translator of Arabic literature. Born in 1953, Taufiq spent his childhood in Damascus before studying philosophy and comparative literature in Germany in 1971 after graduating from high school. His first volume of poetry in German was published in 1978. He has lived as a freelance writer in Aachen since 1972. His work now includes more than 36 titles.
