Inge Buck: Night Wind

Nachtwind is an artist's book: a dialogue between text and image, a conversation between words and drawings, between Inge Buck's poems and Lothar Bührmann's cartoons, where the poems begin and the cartoons answer, consensually, with serious ease, sometimes with a hidden one irony, a cheerfulness or a smile. Poems and cartoons correspond congenially.
In the newly published, bilingual edition, Nachtwind is also an artist's book in a second dialogue: between the original language and the translation, between the poems in German and the poems in the rhythm of the Persian language: a dialogue in the field of tension between Western and Eastern culture .

The poems are accompanied by cartoons by Lothar Bührmann.

Description

Autumn and yet no autumn at the end of a summer: poems about the rhythm of the seasons and their imperceptible loss. With Hölderlin on the banks of the Neckar and Maria Theresa in the baroque garden in Vienna: poems about places and cities where the past and the present meet, where history becomes tangible. Poems about the horrors of the present, which thwart and disturb everyday life while the night wind sweeps around the house. And again and again the unstoppable passage of time is the theme of the poems: evening comes and morning comes again, while the news of death does not stop the clocks. The talk is undeterred of the beauty of the earth, of hidden roots, moving clouds, bird calls, of moments of perception and recognition.

Reviews and press

Weser courier:

"My poems arise from certain situations, often after conversations. Or they are my reaction to events reported in the media," says author and editor Inge Buck, "but I get inspiration from certain places when I travel. But sometimes it's just acoustic impressions, like the night wind that blew when I was in the hospital." more

"The poem 'No Autumn', which deals with the hot summer of 2018, shows how strongly the lines and images in Inge Buck's new book interact.”
