In Bremen, more than 1,500 people fell victim to the Nazi tyranny, the number of deported and persecuted is over 3,000. The artist Gunter Demnig commemorates the victims of National Socialism by placing stumbling blocks in the pavement in front of their last self-chosen place of residence. Since the start of the project in 2004, more than 600 of these memorial stones have been laid in Bremen.

After the first volume on the north region (Burglesum - Vegesack - Blumenthal - Ritterhude), the volume in the middle follows (old town - station suburb). In addition to biographical outlines, this volume contains articles on history and its traces, on the intention of the project and its importance for the relatives as well as on the possibilities and limits of biographical search for traces. A glossary and a timeline on Bremen during the Nazi era round off i.a. the information offer. The book is accompanied by a city map with entries of all stumbling blocks in the city for a personal search for clues.
