Reading: Forough and Freydoun Farrokhzad (Persian/German)

We are pleased to announce that on 25. May at 7 p.m. in the poetry cabinet in Munich bilingual reading the poems of Forough (1934–67) and Fredoun Farrokhzad (1938–92) will take place, the volumes of which were published by sujet in 2017 and 2021.

The siblings are among the best-known personalities of 20th-century Iran: Forough was a film director and, with her five volumes of poetry, one of the most important voices of Iranian modernism (although she died very young in a car accident), her brother was a poet, singer and actor , performance artist, entertainer and political activist. Last but not least, Forough revolutionized the gender roles of the Persian poetry tradition with her poems; With his poetry, which he writes in German and Persian, he gained the respect and attention of Martin Walser and Johannes Bobrowski, among others. The evening opens colorful insights into the work and biographies of both exceptional personalities and traces their connections to the city of Munich.
