Description
First published in 2011, the knowledgeably compiled anthology has become a standard work. So far there is no comparable collection on this subject. Poets from Iran have been coming to Germany for decades, many of them as political refugees. While they have a name in Tehran, they are often hardly known in Berlin. Here is Iran! should change that. The book brings together well-known names such as SAID, Shahin Najafi, Abbas Maroufi and Pegah Ahmadi, who are scholarship holders of the cities of refuge came into exile in Germany, alongside authors who are rather unknown in this country and whose voices are no less powerful.
For the new edition, the book has been extensively revised and updated, and six more poets have been added. 34 poets provide insights into their literary work, take up Persian poetic traditions and tie in with German styles. A cultural exchange in verse.
press reviews
What stands out are the strong, expressive images that shine through the texts. I can only recommend this collection to discover the diversity of Persian poetry. more
